The Kota Buku International Translation Grants program provides assistance to local Malaysian and foreign publishers for the first translation of literary works by Asian authors, for publication abroad.
The grants support the translation of works into languages other than Malay Language.
In cases where an application for a translation grant is successful, Kota Buku contributes part of the translation costs to the publisher,
payable on publication of the translated work. It is not envisaged that Kota Buku will finance the full costs of the translation or printing or editorial costs.
To apply to this program, your company must be an established publisher with an ongoing publishing program and an active backlist of
at least four (4) literary titles. Book publishing must be your company’s primary activity.
Your company must use appropriate and effective means to market, distribute and promote the applied title books in the target-language
country or countries. Kota Buku reserves the right to request proof of contract with a distributor in the target-language country or countries.
The maximum amount available for any one title applied is USD 2,500.
Note that meeting the eligibility criteria does not guarantee that you will receive a grant.
